Preschool and kindergarten open registration event scheduled for March 28

The Union Springs Central School District has scheduled an open registration event for parents with new students eligible to attend preschool and kindergarten in the 2018-19 school year. The event will run from 3 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28 at Cayuga Elementary School, 255 Wheat St., Cayuga.

The Cayuga County Health Department is scheduled to be at the event to offer free lead screenings to students and their siblings.

Preschool and kindergarten programs in the Union Springs Central School District are designed to improve children’s development in social skills, self-awareness, language, literacy and number skills, and much more.

To be eligible to attend preschool, children must be 4 years old by Dec. 1, 2018, and to be eligible to attend kindergarten, they must be 5 years old by Dec. 1, 2018. If your child currently attends preschool in the district, they will automatically be enrolled for kindergarten.

Those unable to attend the event may enroll their child by sending the child’s full name, address, and birth date, along with parents’ full names, address(es), and phone number(s) to Penny Ross at Cayuga Elementary School, 255 Wheat St., Cayuga, NY 13034 or pross@unionspringscsd.org.
