With more than two dozen years of experience in education, Nora Haldeman is ready to make an impact on students and staff at Union Springs Middle School as the building’s new principal.

 

Haldeman was appointed by the Board of Education on August 8 and jump right into her duties on August 9. Haldeman said she is excited to begin her work at Union Springs CSD.

 

“It’s such a great community and everyone has been extremely welcoming,” Haldeman said. “I was fortunate enough to meet with multiple stakeholder groups, and everyone just shared how wonderful the district is, and how fantastic the middle school is. It’s just a great place to be.”

 

Haldeman comes to Union Springs Middle School with more than 20 years of educational experience. This includes five years as an assistant principal, two years of district office work, and another 13 years as an English teacher.

 

“I am pleased to announce the appointment of Nora Haldeman as Middle School principal for the 2022-2023 school year,” said Superintendent Dr. Jarett Powers. “Nora’s half decade of experience as an assistant principal, along with her experiences as a director of technology during the COVID pandemic, enabled her to emerge as a strong candidate to lead our middle school from a very competitive applicant pool.”

 

Haldeman said some goals she will set for this year include building strong relationships with students and staff, as well as ensuring students have opportunities to grow and excel.

 

“I want to provide students with opportunities to develop into well-rounded individuals who are going to make an impact on their community,” she said. “The great thing about being a principal is that I think you get to impact more people. You can focus on systems; you can focus on outcomes; you can focus on creating positive opportunities for students.”

 

In her free time, Haldeman enjoys spending time with her family (including their new nine-month-old golden retriever), as well as kayaking and yoga.
